Motor Vehicle Transfer to Spouse
A motor vehicle transfer is authorised to the surviving spouse of a deceased person where the deceased person was the sole owner of a motor vehicle, which was used during his lifetime exclusively as a personal asset. The Administrator-General will assist the surviving spouse in having the title transferred to him/ her provided the person died intestate, there are no debts owed by the intestate and the vehicle is owned by the intestate solely.
Documents required for Processing of matter:
- Properly completed Form of Particulars
- Proof of Death
- Marriage Certificate/Declaration of Common-Law Spouse obtained from the Supreme Court
- Stamped Deed of Indemnity
- Motor Vehicle Title
- Certificate of Registration
- Certificate of Fitness
- Certificate of Insurance
- Valid Identification of the surviving spouse; and,
- Processing Fee
